Rome's Hotel Eden announces Paolino Capri restaurant on its Iconic Rooftop

Hotel Eden, a five-star luxury hotel part of Dorchester Collection, announces the arrival of Paolino Capri restaurant on its iconic rooftop – Il Giardino Ristorante  – with its spectacular view of Rome. Il Giardino Ristorante will host a “Paolino Capri X Hotel Eden” pop-up restaurant from Thursday March 16, 2023  until Monday May 15, 2023 serving food from Capri, allowing guests to immerse themselves in the colourful, joyful and radiant atmosphere of one of Italy’s most beautiful islands. Hotel Eden’s collaboration with Paolino Capri is an invitation to enjoy a foretaste of the Capri summer in Rome: the historic restaurant is famous for its gastronomic tradition and the warm hospitality provided by the De Martino family.

The restaurant started out in Marina Grande in the early 1970s. By the next  decade, Paolino and his wife Michelina’s food and restaurant décor  had attracted celebrities from around the world, including actors, writers, fashion designers and politicians, many of whom became regulars After two generations, the restaurant is now run by the founder’s grandchildren, Michela and Arianna, together with their uncle Michele, known as ‘Lino’. They have skilfully and successfully preserved its original simplicity while adding a touch of modernity. Paolino is still one of the most glamorous restaurants on the island, and is celebrated throughout the world. It is an essential point of call for every trip to Capri and to Italy.

Il Giardino Ristorante has been transformed with plants and table centrepieces using lemons, aromatic herbs and handcrafted ceramics from the island, resulting in an authentic and immersive experience, with an exceptional view over Rome.

The flavours, aromas and ingredients from the island take centre stage in an extensive menu that has been specially created for “Paolino Capri X Hotel Eden”. Dishes include Paolino’s signature dishes, including, raw fish antipasti such as Bluefin tuna tartare with a pistachio, lime, apple, celery and nut saladMediterranean fish crudo with fruit and vegetables and Honey-glazed tuna, black truffle, Ponzu-style sauce and sesame. Other dishes include the Caprese appetiser (buffalo mozzarella, ox heart tomato, rocket, ham), Grilled octopus with chicory heart salad and lemon zest and Grilled mozzarella, lemon leaves and bruschetta with cherry tomatoes. 

First course dishes include, a Caprese ravioli, Paolino-style with Capri lemon sauce, Lemon fettuccine with red prawn carpaccio or Nerano-style spaghetti, as well as the Paccheri ‘scarpariello’ with fresh cherry tomatoes and Pecorino Romano flakes, which has exclusively been created for this pop-up to highlight the connection between Capri with the cherry tomatoes and Rome, with pecorino cheese. Main course options include a Caprese squid and fried potatoes, Paolino-style- one of the restaurant’s most celebrated dishes-, Grilled amberjack with mint sauce and Neapolitan-style endive or the ‘Acqua pazza’ redfish fillet on toasted bread with steamed vegetables. For dessert, choices include the Caprese cake with vanilla ice cream and cocoa crumble,  the lemon version with citrus sauce, which uses a recipe that has been handed down in the family, the Pastiera napoletana cake with orange sauceLemon delightNeapolitan sfogliatelle or the Babà. In the evenings, there is an extensive buffet with Caprese treats, which recreates the celebrated dessert room in the Paolino restaurant. Finish this culinary experience with, craft limoncello.

Cocktails also have a touch of Capri, with evocative names like Bella Capri (made from Caprisius Gin, blackberry liqueur and lemon juice), Limoncello Spritz (proseccolimoncello and Schweppes lemon), Negroni Bianco (Gin Mare Capri, Riserva Carlo Alberto bianco vermouthItalicus), all served with  treats such as the ‘Bomba Paolino’ (fried pizza, filled with mozzarella and ham, in Chiummenzana tomato sauce - a traditional Capri speciality) and the Nerano-style pasta fritters..

‘La Domenica Italiana’ Sunday lunch at Hotel Eden is a tribute to Italy rich and varied culinary traditions. From Sunday March 19, 2023 until Sunday May 28, 2023, it focuses on the region of Campania. The menu, created by the Paolino Capri restaurant, includes – in addition to a buffet of regional delicacies - traditional first courses like Ziti pasta with traditional Neapolitan ragù and grated caciotta‘Mesca Francesca’ pasta with potatoes and smoked provola cheese, and ‘Gnocchi alla sorrentina’ (potato gnocchi with tomato sauce and mozzarella). The main courses include Steamed mussels with pepperRoasted Caserta pork loin with annurca apple sauce and Aubergine parmigiana. Finally, a cornucopia of traditional pastry, desserts and cakes.
