Royal Chundu's commitment to eco-tourism extends from its effort to preserve the Zambezi riverfront. Even as the lodges were being constructed, only one shrub was removed during the entire process while an additional 4,000 trees were transplanted in order to protect the natural habitat.

This ensures cleanliness of the river, protection of the aquatic wildlife, and an overall private retreat into exotic Zambia. The property is the only place in the world to see the Parrotfish Run, an important local Zambian tradition that flourishes as a result of Royal Chundu's protection of the ancestral water channels where fishermen catch a year's worth of bounty to sustain themselves and their families.

In order to promote community development, Royal Chundu sources the majority of its food and materials from a strict 2.5 mile radius. By gathering resources from the adjacent areas, Royal Chundu supports local farms, fisheries, and local craftsmen while also reducing the property's environmental footprint. Additionally, the property offers a luxury hospitality training program, Chundu University, which has proved so successful that it has been expanded to include adult education for local villagers.
