SB Winemaker’s House & Spa Suites Awarded Two MICHELIN Keys, Among Argentina’s Most Exceptional Hotels

SB Winemaker’s House & Spa Suites, the first hotel by Argentina’s pioneering female winemaker Susana Balbo and her daughter Ana Lovaglio Balbo, has been awarded Two MICHELIN Keys, distinguishing it among the most exceptional hotels in Argentina and Latin America. The recognition celebrates the property’s commitment to craftsmanship, authenticity, and innovation, values that are long synonymous with the Susana Balbo legacy.

Awarded at the global ceremony held on October 8, 2025, in Paris, this honor follows the MICHELIN Guide’s expanded recognition program, which evaluates hotels worldwide based on five criteria: excellence in architecture and interior design, quality and individuality of service, personality and character, value for the price, and contribution to the local area. The two MICHELIN Keys signify a hotel that is “exceptional in every way, offering a memorable experience where hospitality and design come together seamlessly.”

“From the beginning, our goal was to create a house that embodies the soul of Mendoza, its wine, its landscape, and its people,” says Susana Balbo, hotel founder and Argentina’s first female winemaker. “To see that vision recognized by the MICHELIN Guide is an incredible honor, and a testament to the authenticity and passion we pour into every detail.”

The hotel opened in 2022, redefining wine-country luxury with just seven spa suites, each designed as a private sanctuary where art, nature, and wellness intertwine. Every suite features fully integrated spa amenities, including steam rooms, sensations showers, and massage tables, four also include dry saunas, making it one of the only properties in Latin America to offer this level of in-room wellness immersion. Guests are guided by the in-house Wellness Butler, who curates personalized rituals using local herbs, exfoliants, and vinotherapeutic spa treatments therapies.

The hotel is also a culinary experience. At La VidA Restaurant, Argentinian cuisine takes center stage through bold, seasonal flavors prepared with organic ingredients and paired with selections from the family’s celebrated Susana Balbo Wines. Guests can also dine at the Chef’s Table, an intimate open-flame experience showcasing local culinary traditions. Beyond the walls of the house, travelers can explore Mendoza’s stunning Andean landscapes through exclusive expeditions curated by the on-site Experience Curator, from e-bike rides through vineyards and mountain horseback treks to cooking classes and private tastings at the nearby Susana Balbo Bodega. Art remains central to the hotel’s identity, with works from a number of Argentine and Brazilian artists including renowned photographer Sebastião Salgado, alongside the commissioned centerpiece Tree of Life by Sergio Roggerone, a symbolic tribute to women’s empowerment, family, and transformation.

“This award is not only about luxury, it’s about meaning and telling a story,” adds Ana Lovaglio Balbo, Co-Founder of the hotel. “We wanted to craft an experience that feels deeply personal and rooted in place. Receiving two MICHELIN Keys reinforces that true hospitality is about connection, to the land, to culture, and to each other.”
