Seattle’s Iconic The Edgewater Hotel Celebrates 60 Years

The Edgewater hotel, Seattle’s only overwater hotel, celebrates its 60th anniversary with a lineup of summer events and a stay package designed to help guests immerse in the best of what the Emerald City has to offer.

Built in 1962, the legendary waterfront hotel offers unobstructed views of the Puget Sound and the Olympic Mountains and is less than a mile from downtown Seattle’s main attractions (the Space Needle, Pike Place Market, Chihuly Garden and Glass). The hotel made music history in 1964 when it hosted the Beatles during the band’s first global tour (erecting a cyclone fence around the property’s perimeter to keep excited fans at bay). The Edgewater continues to be a destination of choice for both local and visiting musicians, with some—like Seattle resident and Pearl Jam frontman Eddie Vedder—contributing to the design of the hotel itself (Vedder helped refurbish an original 1985 mural by the artist Wyland that spans the hotel’s exterior; his band also serves as inspiration for the property’s signature Pearl Jam Suite). The legendary hotel has been updated over the years (guests no longer fish from the guestroom windows as the Beatles once did), yet retains its boutique, Pacific Northwest charm.

“Summer of 60” Celebrations:

To offer an inside look at its storied music history, The Edgewater commissioned a short documentary feature, live now on the Noble House Hotels’ YouTube page. Special guests, including Jonathan Poneman, co-founder of Sub Pop Records; Graham Graham, owner of famed indie venue The Crocodile; and Seattle Mayor Bruce Harrell speak to the hotel’s grand rock and roll past and iconic place within Seattle culture.

As an homage to the city that has supported it over the past 60 years, The Edgewater is also featuring a “Love Letter to Seattle” package, which includes a curated guide of the hotel team’s favorite city adventures, two CityPass tickets (which grant admission to key attractions like the Space Needle, Argosy Cruises Harbor Tour, and Chihuly Garden and Glass, among others), a $100 credit to the hotel’s award-winning Six Seven restaurant, and a limited-edition 60th anniversary postcard featuring vintage photos of the hotel throughout the decades. Available for booking now, the package starts at $514.

In further celebration, the hotel is bringing back its hit “Rock the Dock” summer concert, taking place on July 17th. A to-be-announced special musical guest will perform live atop a barge anchored in Elliott Bay. Guests can take in the concert from their waterfront table at Six Seven. Watch the hotel on social media (on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter) and online for future talent announcements.
