Sedona's Landscape Hotel Sets a New Standard for Eco-Conscious Luxury Travel
As travelers increasingly seek experiences that align luxury with environmental responsibility, Ambiente, Sedona’s sole adults-only retreat, has earned Four Green Keys, recognizing the property’s leadership in environmentally responsible design, construction and operations while delivering a high-end guest experience in one of the country’s most celebrated natural settings.

Eco-conscious travel is no longer a niche trend. In 2025, 84% of travelers said traveling sustainably was important, signaling a fundamental shift in how trips are planned and experienced. As more guests prioritize low-impact stays and meaningful connections to place over traditional tourism, Ambiente is meeting the moment by pairing high-end design with genuine environmental stewardship.

The Four Green Keys designation from Green Key Global places Ambiente among a select group of hotels that meet the highest standards for sustainability and conservation. The recognition reflects the property’s commitment to minimizing its ecological footprint while preserving and enhancing the natural beauty of Sedona’s landscape.

A first-of-its-kind in North America, the landscape hotel is situated on three acres of untouched high desert bordering the Coconino National Forest. Designed to visually and physically recede into its surroundings, the property’s 40 freestanding, cube-shaped Atriums are elevated on stilts to preserve the fragile terrain below, complementing the topography while minimizing impact on the land.

“Ambiente was always designed to work in harmony with the land, not compete with it,” said Jennifer May, co-founder and co-owner of Ambiente. “Earning Four Green Keys validates our belief that luxury and sustainability are not mutually exclusive; they can and should coexist in a way that protects Sedona’s environment while offering guests something truly extraordinary.”

Sustainability is integrated throughout the guest experience and behind the scenes. Each Atrium is equipped with Eco Bee smart thermostats, LED lighting that is Dark Sky compliant and low-E floor-to-ceiling glass that reflects the region’s iconic red rock formations while improving energy efficiency. The hotel’s pool is solar-heated, while all on-property vehicles are fully electric, reducing emissions and supporting clean transportation.

Water stewardship is a cornerstone of Ambiente’s sustainability approach. As part of the property’s development, ancient waterways were restored and carefully reintegrated into the landscape. The streams are chemical-free, fully recirculating and oxygenated, providing a healthy habitat for rescued koi fish from across the state.

Inside the Atriums, sustainability continues through locally sourced furnishings crafted from downed wood, Frette linens made with OEKO-TEX Standard 100-certified fabrics and decking and carpeting composed of 100% recycled materials, with carpets also Green Label certified. Guests are encouraged to participate in water-saving towel and sheet reuse programs to further support conservation efforts.

With its low-impact architecture, environmentally responsible operations and immersive connection to the landscape, Ambiente is the ultimate luxury retreat for eco-conscious travelers. To learn more or to book a sustainable escape, visit AmbienteSedona.com.
