Luxury wellness retreat Sensei Porcupine Creek will host a hiking retreat Nov. 1-5, 2025, in Rancho Mirage, California, offering guests the opportunity to explore the Coachella Valley through guided hikes and experience the retreat’s signature wellness programming. On the heels of two successful hiking retreats at its sister property on Lanai - Sensei Lānaʻi, a Four Seasons Resort - avid intermediate and advanced hikers will take part in a four-night, five-day retreat to trek across three different, dynamic trails. Each hike will be led by Sensei’s team of experienced Guides to help participants admire incredible views of the Coachella Valley’s vast desert landscapes, from Joshua Tree National Park to Indian Canyons and into the Colorado Desert. These experiences will be coupled with Sensei’s signature wellness programming, restorative spa treatments, luxury accommodations, and world-class culinary offerings from Sensei by Nobu.
The program delivers advanced wellness guidance within the desert’s most beautiful landscapes. Open to couples, solo travelers, and small travel groups, the hiking retreat at Sensei Porcupine Creek includes:
The three trails that guests will traverse during this immersive hiking retreat will be through Andreas and Palm Canyon, Ryan Mountain, and Ladder Canyon. With the guidance from hike leader and Cultural Ambassador, Anthony Purnel of the Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians, guests will begin with a one-mile foot trail leading through a grove of California fan palms and unique rock formations at Andreas Canyon. Next, they will take a three-mile hike through Palm Canyon, featuring the world’s largest California fan palm oasis alongside beautiful views. With panoramic sights of Joshua Tree National Park and the San Jacinto Mountains in the distance, this moderately challenging hike brings participants to a 1,000-foot climb to Ryan Mountain’s summit. The Ladder Canyon hike brings guests through a variety of twists and turns, bringing them to panoramic views along the ridgeline of Painted Canyons. Climb a series of ladders to view the San Andreas Mountain range in addition to the Salton Sea on this 4.4-mile trail that will leave guests with an appreciation of nature’s beauty.
In addition to the hikes, guests will have access to Sensei Porcupine Creek’s wide range of amenities and wellness offerings including intimate group wellness classes, private 1:1 sessions with Sensei Guides, rejuvenating spa treatments, a lagoon-style swimming pool, self-guided tours through the property’s museum-worthy art, pro-level golf course and tennis courts, state-of-the-art fitness pavilion and more.
