Visionary New Hotels to Open for Shanghai's World Expo
Making a striking debut at last week's 'China International Travel Mart' in Shanghai, the city's latest architectural masterpiece, the new 'Himalayas Center' incorporating two visionary hotels, was one of the highlights of the show which was held at the new Shanghai International Expo Centre in Pudong.

Visitors to the Himalayas Center were treated to a glimpse of the unique 'forest' aspect of the center's design as well as an impressive 3-D model of the new landmark which has been designed by one of the world's leading architects, Arata Isozaki, who is renowned for his design of the Barcelona Olympics Stadium and the Los Angeles Museum of Modern Art.

The RMB 2.4 billion Himalayas Center is scheduled to open in Pudong in 2010 in time for the nearby Shanghai World Expo which is again expected to focus world attention on China.

The Himalayas Center is being hailed by developers, the Zendai Group, as an 'archisculptural masterpiece for 21st century China'. It incorporates an ultra luxury, boutique-style 'city retreat', Zendai Hotel Yin and the 5-star Zendai Art Hotel. Other components include the Zendai Museum of Art, DaGuan Theatre with multi-functional auditorium seating for 1,650, Himalayas Mall and Himalayas Creative Complex / Museum Zone.

Graham Kiy, General Manager of the two hotels, said: "CITM is a great opportunity to unveil this sensational new hospitality concept to the travel trade and the general public."
