In partnership with Ultimate Driving Tours, an  industry leading provider of luxury driving adventure travel experiences, Sofitel Rome Villa Borghese is now offering a collection of Mini Viaggi day trips. Highlights of the new menu include a drive among the vine-covered Lazio countryside to the Pope’s summer residence, or along the wide streets of the EUR district, home of the Formula E (motorsport championship for electric cars), as well as a spirited cruise south to Pompeii along the Italian Autostrada. Ideal for small groups of family and friends, or incentive trips and executive meetings, the day trips also include special experiences, private tours and unique dining experiences.  A WOW addition is a helicopter to Siena for a drive through the Tuscan countryside. Guests will drive Ultimate Driving Tours’ fleet of the latest and greatest supercar models from Aston Martin, Bentley, and Ferrari, to Jaguar, Lamborghini, McLaren, Porsche, and more. 

The Mini Viaggi scenic route options range from north to south. 

  • One can drive through the “via dei Laghi”, known as the queen of the Alban Hills landscape, to Castel Gandolfo (Pope’s Summer Residence), stopping for a private tour and lunch at the picturesque and historic Pagnanelli Restaurant. 
  • Another option is cruising the wide streets of the EUR district out to the Roman ruins in Ostia Antica, stopping at the Baths of Caracalla, the city's second largest Roman public baths, and Caffè Palombini where Romans go for breakfast.
  • Vinophiles (wine lovers) will enjoy the vine-covered hillsides of the Lazio region and Roman Castles, including a wine tasting at Orti di Alberico. 
  • Additionally, the group can take a day tour to Orvieto, an ancient city perched on a rock cliff to see its mosaic facades and houses and the Pozzo di San Patrizio, a 16th-century well shaft with a double spiral staircase leading to an underground cave network. Lunch will be served at a historic restaurant in the center of the city with an unparalleled view of the Cathedral.
  • Another option is a spirited cruise south along the Italian Autostrada stopping at ruins for a private tour at Pompeii Archaeological site. The day ends with dinner on a roof terrace with views of Pompeii and Mt. Vesuvius.
  • OVER THE TOP VERSION: Sofitel Rome guests also have the option to upgrade their experience where they can take a scenic helicopter ride from Rome to Siena. From there guests will spend the day in the supercar model of their choice through the picturesque Tuscan countryside. The experience will conclude with an afternoon at the renowned Castello Banfi for lunch in the vineyards accompanied by a private wine tasting in the cellar. To end the day, the helicopter will take guests back to Rome. 

The Mini Viaggi day trips start at €16,600 per day for up to 6 people in 3 cars with a guide. Additional participants can be accommodated for €2,600 per person. VAT is additional.
