Soneva Fushi Unveils World’s First Fine-Dining Zipline Experience

Soneva Fushi, the Maldives’ original barefoot luxury hideaway, has unveiled an exhilarating, new dining experience high among the treetops - Flying Sauces, the world’s first fine-dining zipline experience.

After being securely strapped into safety harnesses at The Den, diners soar along a 600-foot zipline route suspended 30 feet in the air to reach an elevated treetop table on the edge of the forest near Dolphin Beach, enjoying an amuse bouche, refreshing shooters and other gastronomic surprises along the way. In an open kitchen in the treetop dining platform, Chef Rasal Jayawardene, a long-time Sonevian who has trained with some of the world’s best chefs, prepares a seasonal six-course menu, which can be paired with a selection of more than 9,000 fine wines from Soneva Fushi’s extensive cellar. Signature dishes at Flying Sauces include: Hokkaido Scallop Carpaccio with Crispy Wild Rice, Celeriac Two Ways with a Raisin Salsa; Marinated Prawns with Avocado Puree, Chorizo Oil and Arugula; Baby Leeks with Brie Cheese Cream Sauce and Rosemary Crumble; Black Cod with Artichoke Puree and Teriyaki Truffle Sauce; and, for dessert, a Plant-Based Cheesecake with Mango Salsa and Mixed Berry Compote.

Operating only during daylight hours, Flying Sauces offers guests the choice of ziplining for breakfast, high tea or dinner with optional wine pairing – or they can skip the meal and just zipline. The Flying Sauces zipline route takes approximately 1 hour 15 minutes, with each additional dining experience lasting around one hour for breakfast and high tea, and between two and three hours for dinner. The zipline experience is suitable for adults and children aged eight and above, with a minimum weight requirement of 55 pounds. Up to a maximum of 12 guests can join each Flying Sauces experience, divided into two groups of six diners, and only one guest is permitted to use the zipline at any time. To ensure safety at all times, harnesses are compulsory along all sections of the zipline route and must be fitted and verified by a trained Soneva Host – these can be removed when diners reach the elevated dining platform.

The Flying Sauces experience is priced at US$175 per person for breakfast, US$180 per person for high tea, $350 per person for dinner (or US$595 per person, including wine pairings) and US$100 per person for the zipline-only experience.
