Soneva Kiri Launches its Newest Experience, Koh Kood by Sea

Soneva Kiri is offering a completely new way for guests to explore the coastline of Thailand's fourth largest and least populated island entirely by speedboat.

The experience begins at Soneva Kiri's arrival jetty and follows the eastern shore of Koh Kood, through the Ao Salad fishing village where guests can see traditional Thai brightly colored fishing boats and houses built on stilts. Next, the speedboat can make stops for snorkeling at AoYaiKert, Ao Kuai and AoChak. Along the way, guests are encouraged to ask the captain to stop off at any of the private bays along the coastline. This experience is also ideal for bird watching and for spotting marine life.

Finally, at AoYai, the last stop on the route, guests can dine at a local Thai seafood restaurant for lunch. The restaurant, which offers direct views of the bay, serves freshly caught seafood, and is owned and operated by a chef who previously worked at Soneva Kiri. The lunch menu includes crab, prawns, squid and sea bass, with unique dishes such as stir-fried crab with curry powder. After lunch, the captain will take guests back to Soneva Kiri along the same route.

Located southeast of Bangkok, towards the coast of Cambodia, the island of Koh Kood is covered in lush rainforest, ringed with cliffs and secluded bays, and surrounded by water with some of the most vibrant hues of blue found anywhere in Thailand. There is no airport on the island, however Soneva Kiri guests can arrive on Soneva's private eight-seater aircraft, which lands on a nearby island with an airstrip. An alternative way to reach the island is by domestic flight to Trat, and then via a 60-minute speedboat or ferry ride.

The new Koh Kood by Sea experience at Soneva Kiri lasts around five hours and costs $612 per couple or $370 per individual guest.
