Sonop Lodge will open July 1, 2019 at the Southern extremity of the Namib Desert, only an hour and a half flight from sister property Omaanda Lodge. The new premier lodge sets Namibia’s enthralling landscape at the forefront in tandem with Zannier Hotels’ signature world-class luxuries.
In celebration of the opening of its newest property, Zannier Hotels is offering special discounted rates at Sonop through August 31, 2019. Zannier is also offering a year-round discount of 10% off room rates for all bookings combining Sonop and Omaanda, as well as an additional 50% off for every third night of stay in each lodge.
Perched atop of boulders in the Karas region of Namibia, Sonop features ten lavish guest tents, built with roll-up canvas openings that seamlessly blend the elegant indoors with Africa’s majestic untapped hideaways. Designed to manifest a sophisticated 1920’s British colonial feel, the tents are selectively furnished with colonial-style pieces, complete with a large copper clawfoot bathtub, binoculars, maps, and homemade letter paper.
The common areas can be found in the center of the camp. There is an elegant dining space, serving an à-la-carte breakfast from 7am until 11am and from noon offering light dishes to share. In the evenings, at 8 pm precisely, a large, communal table in an awe-inspiring setting reveals itself to guests at a surprise location on the grounds. Silverware and candelabras set the mood for the elegant gala-style dinner served with white glove service, thus becoming an unforgettable gastronomic experience in the middle of the desert.
The evening is extended in the Cocktail & Cigar Lounge, with an expert barman and parlor games creating the authentic gentlemen’s club atmosphere to add to the colonial décor.
Within the private reserve, guests are highly encouraged to explore the surrounding landscape. Whether guests choose to explore by foot, electric bike or horseback, the sightings of wild oryxes, rabbits, brown hyenas and leopards in all their glory will surely be part of the journey. Other made-to-measure excursions will be organized on demand, such as hot air balloon rides, candlelit dinners in the dunes, or a classic film at the open-air cinema under the stars.

Special opening rates for one-bedroom tents at Sonop start at $645 per person/per night, and are offered from July 1 to August 31, 2019. The 10% discount on room rates for all bookings combining Sonop and Omaanda are applicable for minimum 2-night stay per lodge within 14 days, and is valid year-round, with no black-out periods.
Standard rates for one-bedroom tents at Sonop start at $720 per person/per night. Standard rates for one-bedroom huts at Omaanda start at $610 per person/per night. Rates are all-inclusive (accommodation, food & beverage, daily sunrise or sunset excursions, three pieces of laundry per day/per person, taxes) except for premium beverage brands and Champagne.
