Soulshine Bali Opens Doors to a New Barefoot Luxury Wellness Resort in Ubud

Soulshine Bali’s new wellness resort is the very essence of barefoot luxury,  founded by American Musician Michael Franti and wife Sara Agah Franti over 10 years ago, the resort has now doubled in size.

Surrounded by rice terraces and ancient temples, and rooted in barefoot luxury and rock and roll, Soulshine was established after Michael fell in love with Bali on vacation after a world tour in 2007. “We had a dream about a place where people from around the world could enjoy the culture and beauty of Bali, share delicious food and drinks, be immersed in great music, create lifelong friendships and be surrounded by an incredible team whose smiles are as authentic as their hearts.” said Michael Franti.

“After splitting our time between California and Bali for many years, in 2020 the pandemic year we made the decision to relocate our family permanently to Bali and build a new dream resort”.

This month the couples dream has come to fruition as Michael and Sara reopen their new resort featuring 3 stunning pools -including a waterslide and a diving platform,  2 restaurants, a new full-service spa, 2 yoga shala or event space along with 33 rooms, 17 of which are the newly built luxury suites.

The new collection of Panorama suites is inspired by the breathtaking views over the lush jungle and rice fields.   There are 12 Panorama Rooms with a choice of king or twin beds, living room space and large balcony. Guests can sip on one of Soulshine’s signature cocktails recreated from the in room ‘maxi bar’ while they soak in the terrazzo tub listening to the warm sounds of vinyl on their in-room record player.

While 3 Panorama Penthouse Suites offer the most generous space, with an oversize in-room tub, walk-in wardrobe, living space and bar. These rooms sit on the top level of the resort offering 180-degree views of coconut trees and rice fields.

All rooms and suites have thoughtful details from handcrafted furniture to luxurious linens, Marshall speakers and a touch of rock & roll flare with each guest having their own Marley record player and access to a Vinyl record library of over 100 records.

Soulshine can also cater for families with their two bedroom ‘Stay Human Suite', offering connecting rooms with a private terrace and outdoor lounge.

The jewel in the crown of the new suite collection will be the Soulshine Villa which is on schedule to be unveiled next month. Complete with a plunge pool on the 4th floor of the building, the bedroom appears to be suspended which gives guest the feeling of floating in mid- air.  There is plenty of room to soak up the view with a living room, kitchen and the suite also features an infrared sauna.

Soulshine guests are spoiled with a gourmet daily buffet breakfast and beyond that there are lots of options for both healthy eating and a bit of indulgence. Soulshine believes in being 100% healthy 90% of the time so they aren’t afraid to balance a night out with a slice of Soulshine’s famous chocolate cake or a cocktail/mocktail making class using fresh herbs from our organic garden.

Soulshine’s Chef has created a menu that blends Balinese and Western cuisine, making guests feel good about indulging. All the culinary delights are served alongside a mouth-watering array of colourful juices, smoothies, beer, wine and tropical cocktails and mocktails. Guests can even sign up for an onsite cooking class to learn the art of recreating the dishes at home.

Soulshine hosts a variety of retreats all year round, from yoga, pilates, dance, writing, photography workshops, and corporate leadership summits.  The signature retreat hosted by Michael and Sara is aptly named The Soulrocker Music Experience.  This retreat is 7 nights of music adventure, play and wellness but in a rock and roll way.

Outside of retreats, guests at Soulshine have so many options for adventure and relaxation.  They can start each morning with an optional morning yoga class and/or HITT class then learn about the culture of Bali by visiting a nearby water temple or participating in a Balinese purification ceremony.  They can get active on an all-level bicycle excursion riding down the volcano and then through the local villages, also gaining an intimate view of the landscape and life on the island.

If they prefer to find their zen - there are private sound healing sessions, daily spa treatments or a walk through the organic rice fields to learn about the ancient tradition of rice planting that has sustained the island for generations.

As the night sets across the coconut tree lined horizon, evenings are filled with live music, marshmallow roasts, or Balinese fire dancers.

Soulshine is ideal for anyone who is looking to hit the reset button on life, enjoy live music in the tropics and have a whole lot of fun at the same time.
