They’ll discover the remarkable lands of the South Shetland Islands and Antarctic Peninsula while experiencing excursions that will get guests up close and personal with all the Arctic has to offer.

The expedition starts in Ushuaia, Southern Argentina on 17th December from which vacationers will travel through the Drake Passage to the South Shetland Islands and Antarctic Peninsula. Guests will return to Ushuaia on 28th of December after a 12-day expedition.

Christmas Day itself is spent in snow-covered Antarctica where the itinerary is flexible and dependent on weather and ice conditions. The captain and experienced crew will decide on the best course for unrivaled wildlife, scenery and adventure experiences to ensure each passenger gets the most out of their day. Vacationers could spend their Christmas hiking through the majestic Antarctic Peninsula’s mountains to vantage points offering glorious 360° views, walking along beaches together with penguin colonies or taking a polar plunge into the frigid Antarctic waters.

On the 12-day expedition guests will sail through the Drake Passage, known for its unpredictable waters but with a vessel to handle all conditions. Calm seas will invite guests to take to the deck and search for the abundance of seabirds that will be circling the ship including wandering albatross and petrels. During this time the expedition team will provide a range of informative lectures and presentations covering a vast range of topics from Antarctic wildlife to the geology of the surrounding area giving guests in-depth knowledge of the frozen continent.

After traversing the Antarctic Convergence, guests will be treated to a vast white landscape, the continent of Antarctica. During their stay they will have a jam-packed itinerary of five days where they will immerse themselves in what the wilderness has to offer.

Guests can participate in a range of activities including hiking Danco Island to visit a large penguin colony, camping on ice excursions for those who want to experience sleeping under the stars surrounded by nothing but ice and even water sports such as kayaking and stand-up paddle boarding.

The trip takes place on the brand-new World Explorer, a luxury polar vessel that provides guests with a 5-star level of accommodation and service. Passengers are treated to suite cabins which all have balconies for viewing and private bathrooms.
