The first crocuses, tulips and hyacinths blossoming in King’s Square just opposite Copenhagen’s grandest hotel, the d’Angleterre, are a colorful sign that the dark Scandinavian winter is coming to a close.
Another sign of spring is the annual reopening of the city’s Tivoli Gardens, one of the world’s oldest still-operating amusement parks. Founded in 1843, it was Copenhagen’s Tivoli that inspired a Californian named Walt Disney to create Disneyland. Tivoli is not just for children but offers delights – rides, entertainment, food and drink – for all ages.
Guests of the d’Angleterre can take advantage of the hotel’s “Tivoli Offer,” which includes entry tickets to the park. (Alternatively, guests can apply the savings of the hotel’s 4-nights-for-the-cost-of-3 (or 3-nights-for-the-price-of-2) offers towards Tivoli tickets.)
Tivoli’s March 27 opening comes a week before Good Friday. Easter is celebrated at the d’Angleterre with its traditional gourmet Easter Brunch, and with exquisitely crafted Easter Eggs available at the hotel’s Maison gourmet confectionery store.
