Step Back in Time to Gritty 1930s Beijing with The Opposite House and Bespoke Beijing

The Opposite House and Bespoke Beijing announce the "Midnight in Peking" room package, including an official walking tour based on Paul French’s bestselling murder mystery.

Explore the former legation quarter surrounding Tiananmen Square with Bespoke Beijing, retracing the night of the infamous 1937 murder of a British diplomat’s daughter. From the ominous Fox Tower, to the gritty Badlands and the former foreign legation quarter, two historians, who have carried out additional research into the Chinese side of the case, will carve a path through the little-known areas of old Peking, painting a vivid picture of 1930s Beijing. After the walking tour, retreat to Sanlitun and The Opposite House for a two-night weekend stay.

The Opposite House offers its Studio 70 for a continued two-night stay priced at RMB2,300++ (approx. US$337.27++), including a walking tour for two, as well as daily breakfasts available at Village Café. Complimentary mini bar, high-speed wireless internet access and unlimited use of workout and pool facilities are also available. To complete the adventurous experience, a drop-off at the hotel will be arranged by the Guest Experience team.

Bespoke Beijing’s public “Midnight in Peking” walking tours take place on the last Saturday of every month.
