Teranka Formentera Introduces New Wellness Series

This Autumn, guests of Formentera’s Teranka are invited to embody the essence of the laissez-faire Balearic island with the launch of its new wellness series. Inspired by its island home, the series has been designed to connect guests with nature to welcome a feeling of relaxation for the mind, body and soul.

In a first for the island, Teranka has partnered with OPO – experts in guided meditation and soundscapes for the mindful explorer. ‘Teranka Rituals’ introduces a series of treatments using traditional Ayurvedic techniques alongside aromatherapy practices for guests to focus on the self while the new ‘Essence of Flow’ series offers experiences led by local experts including stargazing, skin workshops and off-beat hikes for guests to delve deeper into their wellbeing.

Partnering with wellness pioneers OPO brings a new and innovative way for guests to enter a deeper state of mental wellness, achievable from all corners of Teranka. The ground-breaking wellness technology by Chris Connors – wellbeing consultant and Founder of OPO – combines the power of breath work and carefully curated soundscapes with guided meditation to reduce stress and anxiety while promoting relaxation, focus and energy. Via the OPO app – available to download in rooms - guests can embark on a series of self-guided meditation, discover sunset rituals, stargazing sound baths, group meditation classes as well as a guide to aligning with one’s circadian rhythm.

Teranka also welcomes a unique portfolio of luminaries as part of its new ‘Essence of Flow’ series. Tapping into both local and international practitioners, each of the sessions are inspired by the elements of Teranka – air, water and land. Rotating on a weekly basis, guests can expect stargazing with the Formentera Astronomical Association, to be guided through the constellations above; massage therapy sessions as well as workshops with skin savior Frederika Van Hagen - who developed her skill under the mentorship of renowned facialist Joanna Evans, Founder of Notting Hill’s ‘Skin Matters’ – to become an expert at reading skin needs and devise individual treatment plans for the best skin yet.

Teranka Rituals provide guests with a menu of practices and therapies to disconnect using botanical aromatherapy and massage techniques. The Kanso Shirochampi Massage is a traditional Ayurvedic massage technique that uses marma points therapy, focusing on the feet and head to help sustain the body’s flow of energy, while Teranka’s Balinese Massage combines soft movements with pressure and essential oils to activate ‘Chi’ or ‘vital energy’ to create a unison between the body, mind and spirit.

Also available to guests throughout September and October is guided off-beat hikes with a resident expert. The nature-immersive walks take guests along Migjorn’s crystalline shores, through the beautiful fig tree Figueres de Can Toni Mestre and onto the fourth-century archaeological site of Can Blai. Guests can switch off from the everyday on one of the hotel’s cabanas or day beds; find inner peace with a siesta on a hammock amongst the pine trees; take part in daily sunrise yoga while absorbing the fresh sea air or enjoy a session at the imaginative jungle-style outdoor gym, equipped with apparatus made from natural materials and an outdoor deck for personal training sessions. Those wanting a personalised retreat program, a team of in-house practitioners are also available to create programs for whatever size group.

Teranka is home to 35 guest rooms and suites, nestled on the wilder, southern side of Formentera on the sought-after Migjorn beach. The boutique hotel opened for its first full season this year under new ownership; Luxury Hotel Partners (LHP), umbrella brand behind the legendary Marbella Club and co-owners of Nobu Hotel Ibiza Bay.  For dining, Teranka welcomed the Teranka Garden with an outdoor kitchen and bar leading to an expansive terrace and sand garden with menus focused on showcasing the best in fresh island staples.
