The Best Destinations to Fly Private for Labor Day

As summer draws to a close, many Americans are planning one final getaway for Labor Day. If you still haven’t planned your final summer getaway, Travel + Leisure offers some recommendations on where to go at the last minute. Private Jets encourages travelers to consider flying private to make the most out of their three-day weekend.

Travel + Leisure’s 10 last-minute Labor Day getaway ideas include destinations like South Carolina’s Lowcountry; Saratoga, Wyoming; and Aspen, Colorado. Wells said those are good locations for private air travel because they’re farther away from larger airports which traditionally offer more convenient flight schedules.

To take in the beauty of the South Carolina coast, travelers can fly into Beaufort County Airport in Beaufort, South Carolina, in the southern part of the Lowcountry area. Travelers can take their time and drive the entire coast. Visitors can book their return flight from St. George Airport in St. George, South Carolina, which is in the northern part of the Lowcountry area.

Travel + Leisure recommends Saratoga, Wyoming, because of its proximity to Brush Creek Ranch, which sits on the edge of Medicine Bow-Routt National Forrest. The dude ranch offers guests a glimpse of life in the old American West but it’s far from a major airport. Private jet travelers can fly into Shively Field in Saratoga and take a short 20-minute car ride to the ranch, allowing them to enjoy more of their vacation at the ranch.

Activities like Jazz Aspen Snowmass, which takes place over Labor Day weekend, make Aspen, Colorado, top the list of Labor Day destinations. The winter- and summertime haven is hours away from a larger airport. Private charter travelers can save time by flying directly into Aspen-Pitkin County Airport in Aspen. Wells said flying into Denver International Airport and adding a rental car or another form of ground transportation adds to the cost, and time spent waiting for that transportation and hours on the road driving to Aspen results in lost time.
