The Breakwater Inn Kennebunkport Launches Ultimate Maine Food Tour for Guests

One of Maine’s most iconic waterfront hotels, Breakwater Inn launches an exclusive new guest experience that showcases the region’s most beloved dishes. The immersive Maine Food Tour includes two nights at the newly refreshed Breakwater Inn in an oceanview suite, signature dish and drink of choice at each restaurant on the tour, car service to each food destination, and VIP treatment at each location - inclusive of the best waterfront tables and zero wait times. Maine’s culinary scene is a vibrant blend of classic coastal traditions and innovative farm-to-table fare, where freshly caught seafood, wild blueberries, and local craft ingredients take center stage in both humble shacks and acclaimed restaurants.

The tour kicks off with a dinner on the first night of stay at Mabel’s Lobster Claw, beloved by locals and celebrities alike. Mabel’s highlights include The Dutchess with scallops, shrimp, and lobster in garlic wine sauce, a classic Lobster Risotto with mushrooms, spinach, parmesan, and balsamic drizzle, and perfectly crispy Fried or Blackened Haddock Sandwich. The coup de grâce is a slice of Homemade Blueberry Pie, made with Maine’s wild blueberries and topped with whipped cream or ice cream.

The next morning, the curated culinary journey starts early in Kennebunkport at Mabel’s Pantry, where guests will stroll across the street from The Breakwater to enjoy signature Maine Blueberry Pancakes made with local wild blueberries. After a quick stop at Kport Provisions for road trip supplies and perhaps a locally brewed coffee, guests will set out through southern Maine’s most storied seaside towns of Kennebunkport, Kittery, Ogunquit, and beyond, with each stop offering a signature taste of the region:

Robert’s Maine Grill – A celebrated seafood staple in Kittery, guests can choose between the state’s signature Lobster Roll, prepared hot with butter or cold with mayo, or the addictive Fried Maine Cheese, a locally loved comfort food served crispy on the outside, melty on the inside, as a savory starter for the day. A Robert’s Bloody Mary topped with Jumbo Shrimp complements the dish.

Bob’s Clam Hut – Right next door and equally legendary, Bob’s is known for its Bob’s Style Clams, golden-fried with a proprietary blend of seasoning that’s been perfected since 1956. On the side is a local Tributary Pale Ale that is light, refreshing, and crisp from Kittery.

Harbor Burger Shack – For a creative surf-meets-turf option, this local favorite offers the Surf & Turf Burger, a juicy beef patty topped with a crispy crab cake, all served in a laid-back setting near the water. Alongside, the Breakwater Inn recommends opting for a Chocolate Whoopie Pie shake topped with whipped cream, chocolate syrup, chips and Maine whoopie pie to wash it down.

The Maine Catch – This classic New England seafood restaurant has indoor and outdoor seating in Ogunquit, where guests can savor a steaming bowl of Clam Chowdah, rich with local clams and cream, or enjoy Steamers bathed in Allagash Beer, an earthy and satisfying nod to Maine’s favorite craft brew.

Port Fish & Chop House – Guests return to The Breakwater Inn for happy hour on the waterfront lawn, where they’ll sip Oyster Marys, a zesty twist on the Bloody Mary garnished with a fresh oyster, while taking in the views of the legendary sunset while boats come in from the day at sea. Then, the tour culminates with a decadent dinner, where guests can indulge in the Baked Stuffed Lobster, filled with scallops, shrimp, haddock, and buttery breadcrumbs, an elevated take on the classic Maine bake.

The Maine Food Tour Package includes a two-night stay at the Breakwater Inn, which recently reopened following a top-to-bottom renovation. The historic 35-room inn now features freshly redesigned harborside guest rooms with serene coastal décor, luxe linens, and updated finishes that marry seaside charm with modern comfort. Accommodations are in the King Suite, located on the third floor and offering a raised seating area looking out through a bay window to the Kennebunk River and Atlantic Ocean. The suite also has its own balcony facing the water.

Available through October 12th, Breakwater Inn’s Maine Food Tour is priced starting at $2,500 USD for two people staying in one suite and includes all as noted above, based on suite availability. For more information or to book please visit https://breakwaterinnmaine.com/.
