The Green Season at Song Saa Private Island Resort

The Green Season at Song Saa Private Island Resort
Days are typically filled with blue skies scattered with huge tropical cumulus clouds arriving off the horizon, pregnant with rain, an announcement of dramatic storms, tropical rains filled with thunder and lightning. The performance is theatrical. Such down pours swiftly pass however, and it is soon warm and sunny again with the special appearance of a multitude of rainbows.

Green season celebrates cuisine fresh and abundant with locally grown produce, available to Song Saa from the islands of the Archipelago and mainland. Menus center on seasonal produce as it matures throughout green season, markets and our island nursery abundant with fresh farm to table ingredients. Coconuts, Papaya, mangos and Mak pran drip from the branches, ingredients for our fresh squeezed juices, pulps for our Spa and wellness therapies and innovative refreshments. It's a perfect time and opportunity to come back into balance, play, rest, rejuvenate and be pampered.

Back to nature

Take advantage of being in the midst of Mother Nature's most treasured specimens and traipse through the islands with our island-hopping tour or try snorkelling around the islands to get up close with the colourful marine life, and kayak to explore the unspoiled coves and bays of the surrounding archipelago in your own time.

In fact, one of Song Saa's most popular excursions is a trip to beautiful Five Mile beach where guests enjoy a mouth-watering picnic lunch against a background of turquoise water and pure white sand. After savouring the authentic Khmer cuisine, learn how to recreate some of the unique dishes through a Cambodian cooking class using locally sourced produce, which could also be tailored for children in case you have a Junior Masterchef in tow. To recharge, enjoy the serenity of dawn through our complimentary Sunrise Yoga class on an east-facing yoga platform, or participate in a customised meditation session in an open-air sala and pick up some tips on practicing mindfulness in your daily life.

Travel with a Conscience

Song Saa has always been synonymous with efforts in sustainability. In a bid to maintain the region's paradisiacal state for generations to enjoy, and ensure sustainable development for Koh Rong archipelago's sea, land and people, the not-for-profit Song Saa Foundation was simultaneously founded.
This May to October, the Song Saa Private island pledges to donate profits of three guest stays each month to the Song Saa foundation.

Guests can choose to participate in a range of activities that flow from the mission of the Foundation, guided by their personal Conservation Ambassador. Activities include: Island safaris, featuring an introduction to the natural and social world of the Koh Rong Archipelago (the resort's home) and a visit to a local Khmer fishing village. Participate in workshops with our youth education programme - the Song Saa Sea Turtles. Participate in one of the Foundation's unique livelihood projects, including organic vegetable growing. Learn the art of using and cooking local food as you follow a dish from the ‘soil to plate' with our trained cuisine experts.
