Chicago’s The Gwen, a Luxury Collection Hotel, unveils the city’s first urban glamping experience, residing on the private terrace of its premier Gwen Lux Suite. The luxury property is bringing its bespoke service and amenities outdoors, allowing guests the chance to spend the night under the stars through the exclusive hotel package offering.
Perched on the 16th floor of the landmark McGraw-Hill building, the Gwen Lux Suite’s terrace encompasses over 1,000 square feet of open-air real estate, making it one of the largest private outdoor terraces in Chicago. As part of the Glamping Experience, guests will be surrounded by urban landscape, with picturesque views of Michigan Avenue and some of the city’s most iconic architecture.
The expansive tent measures 16-feet in diameter and will feature an eclectic bohemian aesthetic with a mix of patterns and textures. Lavish furnishings include drum side tables, comprised of mango wood tops with a copper iron base; hand-knotted macramé seat cushions; and a braided Indian jute rug. The centerpiece of the glamping tent is the queen-sized Black Pearl bed, designed exclusively for the Luxury Collection hotels’ brand. Luxury Frette linens are accented by colorful throw pillows; and the tent is illuminated by earthenware lamps and glided quatrefoil lanterns.
Included with the Glamping Experience is access to the two-bedroom suite, which can accommodate up to six guests. The Gwen Lux Suite also features a dining room, living room with wet bar, and two-and-a-half baths.
Glamping guests will receive special amenities throughout their stay, including a welcome bite from The Gwen’s Executive Chef Matt Jergens, round-trip airport transportation, and s'mores turndown amenity. Throughout the visit, guests can enjoy access to the hotel’s Elite Ambassador Service, reserved for The Gwen VIP guests. Elite Ambassadors will contact guests to manage every aspect of their stay, which can include pampering services from the Spa at Nordstrom ($120 per person) or a glamping tasting menu from Chef Jergens (starting at $125 per person).
Available now for bookings, the Glamping experience is offered for stays between May 28 through September 30, 2018. Rates start at $5,500 per night.
