The Langham, Boston Debuts First U.S. Chuan Body + Soul

The entire experience is focused on creating a relaxing spa atmosphere as well as balancing the elements, whose harmony is essential for physical and emotional well-being.

The Brand
Chuan Body + Soul is the sibling of Chuan Spa, the luxury spa brand under Langham Hotels International. Chuan Spas now span three continents. "Chuan" in Chinese means flowing water and water is the foundation of life. Chuan is among the very first hotel spas to incorporate principles of TCM into its signature treatments, ambience, and décor. Chuan aims to provide the most comprehensive wellness experience with an array of pampering treatments to restore your mind, body, and soul.

The Place
Chuan Body + Soul at The Langham, Boston encompasses two fitness floors with modern spa treatment rooms, Rejuvenation Bar, elegant locker rooms, indoor lap pool, hot tub, saunas, and TechnoGym equipment with LCD televisions and iPod technology. Staying true to its Oriental philosophy, it is designed with a Chinese architectural style.

The Chuan Journey
The Chuan journey begins with a specialist taking guests through a five-element (water, fire, wood, metal, and earth) questionnaire to determine which life element is out of balance. Centuries ago, TCM practitioners identified these five elements and determined their impact on physical and emotional well-being. Essential oils, incense and teas are tailored to bring the element back to harmony. After the treatments, guests can also take advantage of all health club amenities.

Our treatments are guided by the TCM pillars of the five elements through the use of Chuan’s own private label spa products. Chuan Body + Soul will offer a range of indulging treatments including:

• Chuan Massages: Using your recommended element oil, choose from Balancing, Harmony or Stone Therapy massage treatments.

• Chuan Man: The award winning 'A Man's World' and Man Maintenance treatments.
• Chuan Hand and Foot: Enjoy Healing Hand, Feet Retreat or Reflex Remedy.
• Thalgo Facials: Chuan Body + Soul offers a range of Thalgo treatments to suit all requirements.

The Chuan Products and Teas
An extensive range of exclusive oils, spa products, and herbal teas have been created and developed to be used in signature treatments and for retail sale. These products draw on the powers of the five elements and have been created in consultation with a Chinese health care expert, with qualifications in Chinese medicine, naturopathy and traditional Chinese massage therapies.

The Room for Two
At 340 square feet, the treatment room for couples is one of the largest in Boston. This haven features two hydraulic treatment tables, a private rain therapy shower with multiple shower heads, and a hot tub for two.

The Details
Chuan Body + Soul will be open Monday through Friday from 5:30 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. and on Saturday and Sunday from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. The fitness center will be available 24 hours a day.
