The Marlborough Boutique Hotel & Vineyard will open 20 new Junior Suites in January 2027, together with a dedicated wellness space, gym and new reception/dining hub. Set amongst the vineyards and established gardens of the 16-acre estate, the expansion will allow more guests to experience The Marlborough while retaining the privacy and personal service for which the property is known.
The new Junior Suites have been designed to make the most of their vineyard and garden settings, offering generous space and a relaxed, contemporary place to stay while exploring Marlborough. The accommodations are set across six pavilions spaced throughout the estate, each comprising either three individual Junior Suites, or three Junior Suites and a two-room Family Suite. With only a small number of rooms in each pavilion, guests retain a sense of privacy and seclusion, with each Junior Suite opening onto its own outdoor space and the surrounding gardens or working vineyard.
At 517 square feet, each Junior Suite features a king bed, generous living area, freestanding bath, large walk-in rainfall shower and private patio overlooking either the gardens or working vineyard. Interiors take their cues from the estate, combining natural textures, warm autumnal colours and contemporary furnishings. For families or friends traveling together, the Family Suite offers 861 square feet across two interconnecting rooms and two bathrooms, providing the flexibility to stay together while retaining individual space and privacy.
The expansion goes beyond new accommodations, introducing a series of new facilities for guests. A new dedicated wellness space will include four treatment rooms, sauna and cold plunge facilities, a space for private Pilates and yoga sessions and a separate gym. Junior Suite guests will arrive at a new reception/dining hub, where check-in will be personal and relaxed before being taken by electric cart through the estate to their accommodation.
Executive Chef Wieland Matzig will also introduce The Source, a relaxed new restaurant centred around wood-fired gourmet pizzas, seasonal produce from the estate gardens and simple seasonal dishes. Open to all guests, The Source will complement Harvest Restaurant, which will continue to offer the estate’s more elevated dining experience with its focus on fresh, seasonal and local produce.
“We have always wanted The Marlborough to be somewhere guests genuinely want to spend time, rather than simply a beautiful place to sleep between activities. The new Junior Suites give us the opportunity to welcome more guests to the estate while still providing the space, privacy and personal experience that are so important to us. Together with the new wellness and dining spaces, guests can experience much more of Marlborough without necessarily having to leave the property,” says Angela Dillon, owner of The Marlborough Boutique Hotel & Vineyard.
All guests will have access to guided and self-guided experiences throughout the estate, including its organic vineyards, established gardens, walking trails and vegetable gardens. Beyond the property, The Marlborough provides an ideal base for exploring the wider region — from the pristine waterways of the Marlborough Sounds and Queen Charlotte Track to the Omaka Aviation Heritage Centre, world-class wineries and surrounding landscapes. The onsite Concierge team can curate each guest’s time around how they choose to experience the region.
For those looking to slow the pace, there is equally plenty of reason to remain on the estate — exploring the gardens and vineyard, enjoying the dining and wellness facilities, or simply relaxing on the private patio of their Junior Suite.
The new Junior Suites will be available for stays beginning January 2027, with rates starting from $1,300 USD ($2,250 NZD) per room, per night, based on two guests. For more information, please visit The Marlborough Boutique Hotel’s website.
