The World’s Most Expensive Luxury Hotels this Summer

The survey conducted by TravelMag.com compared the rates at luxury hotels around the globe this summer, with the findings based on the minimum price for two people sharing a double room at a particular hotel or resort this August.

With a minimum rate of $6,851 per night, the North Island Lodge, situated on an exclusive private island, came out top of the rankings. One of the region’s most luxurious resorts, it boasts 11 sumptuous villas dotted along pristine beaches, as well as several restaurants, a spa, and multiple water sports opportunities including scuba diving, paddle boarding, and sea kayaking.

Second and third in the rankings are One & Only Gorilla’s Nest in Rwanda and Como Laucala Island in Fiji, where guests can expect to pay $6,800 and $6,440 per night, respectively, this summer.

Perched in the foothills of the glorious Virunga Volcano Range, One & Only Gorilla’s Nest is a veritable jungle chic haven, surrounded by verdant scenery and featuring sumptuous accommodation, an outdoor swimming pool, a spa and a fitness centre. It is also a popular base for going gorilla spotting, and guests can book excursions directly at the hotel.

Located in the waters of Melanesia in the Cakaudrove province of Fiji, meanwhile, Como Laucala Island is no less impressive, set amid rainforests and white sand and close to a stunning cobalt reef. Accommodation is as lavish as you could imagine, with all of the island’s 25 residences coming with private pools and spacious sundecks.

Among the remainder of the top 10 priciest hotels this summer are several African safari lodges, where guests can spend the day on the look out for exotic creatures before returning to their lodgings to relax in contemporary luxury. In fact, Africa is represented in the survey’s findings by no fewer than 5 of the top 10 priciest hotels. The United States, on the other hand, has just 1 inclusion in the top 10 – the Amangiri resort in Canyon Point, Utah.
