“Although the Caribbean is always a hot destination for our villa brands, we are experiencing a lot of interest in colder weather ski/snow destinations as well,” said Steve Lassman, vice president of villa product and agency relations for Villas of Distinction. “Riviera Maya and Punta Mita made the list this year due to an increase in travel to Mexico, as evident by a 40 percent booking increase in Riviera Maya.”

Here is a list of Villas of Distinction's top five hottest destinations for villa vacations in 2016:


  1. Colorado
    Snow is falling in this region after a slow snow fall last year making it a hot destination for 2016. One of the most popular destinations in Colorado is Steamboat Springs, with villa properties close in proximity to some of the area's favorite ski slopes. Visitors flock to Steamboat Springs outside of ski season as well to partake in adventurous activities like hiking the National Parks, horseback riding, biking and more.

  2. Utah
    In addition to making this top-five list, Utah was Fodor's #1 pick in its Fodor's Go List 2016.
