Tourists are showing growing interest in exploring Europe’s busiest cities after dark, with night-tour searches increasing faster than searches for traditional day tours.
A new search analysis from MyPrivateTours, a curated platform for instantly bookable private and semi-private tours, found that global searches for “night tours” reached an estimated 138,000 searches in June 2026, up 206% year-on-year.
By comparison, “day tours” recorded an estimated 582,000 searches in June 2026, up 83% year-on-year.
This means searches for night tours grew at around 2.5 times the rate of day tours over the same period.
MyPrivateTours reviewed search demand across seven major European city destinations: Paris, Rome, London, Barcelona, Venice, Prague and Florence, with Paris, Rome and London showing some of the strongest growth in interest in night-time experiences.
Paris showed one of the clearest differences between interest in day and night tours.
Searches for “Paris night tours” increased 1,691% year-on-year, compared with a 137% increase for “Paris day tours.”
This means Paris night-tour searches grew at more than 12 times the rate of day-tour searches year-on-year.
The French capital offers a wide range of after-dark experiences, from illuminated landmarks and evening Seine cruises to food and cultural tours.
Rome recorded the fastest growth in night-tour searches among the cities analysed.
Searches for “Rome night tours” increased 1,489% year-on-year, compared with an 88% increase for “Rome day tours.”
This means searches for Rome night tours grew at almost 17 times the rate of day-tour searches year-on-year.
The trend highlights growing interest in experiencing Rome’s major landmarks and cultural attractions after dark.
London recorded the highest estimated night-tour search volume among the seven cities analysed.
In June 2026, searches for “London night tours” reached an estimated 6,000, compared with approximately 5,000 for Rome and 3,000 for Paris.
London night-tour searches were also 590% higher year-on-year.
The city’s combination of historic landmarks, evening river cruises, food experiences and illuminated attractions gives travellers a wide range of options for exploring after dark.
The increase in interest extends beyond traditional sightseeing tours.
Global searches for “night cruise” reached an estimated 446,000 searches in June 2026, up 148% year-on-year.
Searches for “night food tours” reached an estimated 7,000, up 2,633% year-on-year.
Paris is also seeing increased interest in specific evening experiences. Searches for “evening Seine cruise” reached an estimated 3,000 searches in June 2026, up 1,259% year-on-year.
Meanwhile, “Paris evening tour” recorded an estimated 2,000 searches, up 5,491% year-on-year.
These figures suggest that growing interest in after-dark tourism extends beyond conventional sightseeing and into cruises, food and other evening experiences.
The search data suggests that travellers are becoming more flexible about when they explore a destination.
Rather than sightseeing being limited to daytime hours, evening experiences are becoming another way for visitors to experience major cities, landmarks and attractions.
Night tours can offer a different atmosphere from daytime sightseeing, particularly for landmarks, river cruises, food tours and cultural experiences.
Ahmed Tawfik, Co-Founder of MyPrivateTours, said, “Day tours are still a big part of city breaks, but travellers are becoming more flexible about when they choose to explore. “The strong growth in searches for evening and night tours shows that people are looking for different ways to experience major cities. “Night tours can offer a completely different atmosphere, whether that’s seeing landmarks after dark, taking an evening cruise or joining a food tour. “It’s not simply about taking the same tour later in the day. Travellers are looking for more varied, flexible and curated experiences.”
The analysis used estimated search-demand data from Google Trends and Glimpse, which converts Google Trends data into estimated search volumes.
MyPrivateTours reviewed search demand across seven major European city destinations: Paris, Rome, London, Barcelona, Venice, Prague and Florence, comparing search interest for night tours with day tours.
The analysis examined June 2026 search volumes and year-on-year changes to identify longer-term changes in interest. Additional searches relating to night cruises, food tours and evening experiences were also reviewed.
All search-volume figures are estimates derived from Glimpse’s conversion of Google Trends data and should be treated as indicative rather than exact search counts.
A manual review of Tripadvisor listings was conducted to provide additional context around the availability and types of bookable evening experiences in selected cities. Because Tripadvisor listings are dynamic, these findings represent a snapshot at the time of research and are not intended to provide a permanent market ranking.
All data was collected and analysed in July 2026, using June 2026 as the latest complete month of search data.
