Town & Country Swiss Style at Widder Zurich and Alpina Gstaad
The four-night "Town & Country" package combines two nights in Zurich at the 49-room Widder Hotel with two nights in the Alps at The Alpina Gstaad. While different in style, the two luxury hotels have a similar sensibility with distinctive design, original art, furniture by world-renowned designers and exacting attention to detail.

The newest luxury hotel to open in Gstaad in 100 years, the 56-room Alpina Gstaad has been winning awards and accolades since it opened in December 2012. A contemporary interpretation of traditional Swiss architecture, the hotel's authentic sensibility comes from the natural materials used in its construction. Hundred-year-old fir wood, gathered from old Alpine farmhouses, lines the interior of the property. Rich brown Ringgenberg stone from local quarries was used for the façade and throughout the hotel. Contemporary furniture by Minotti, Holly Hunt, Zimmer + Rohde and Stephane Ducatteau and a stunning art collection with more than 30 works by Ashley Bickerton, Tracey Emin, Roy Nachum, The Bruce High Quality Foundation and other well-known artists gives the hotel its modern vibe.

The Alpina Gstaad has three restaurants: the first European outpost of MEGU, the renowned Japanese restaurant; a traditional Swiss stübli; and Restaurant Sommet, Michelin-starred serving contemporary cuisine. Other facilities include a 21,500-square-foot Six Senses Spa, a bar and lounge, wine-tasting room, private cinema, cigar lounge, a ballroom and several boardrooms. The 56 spacious rooms and suites – all with balconies affording sweeping views – range from 333 square feet to 4,305 square feet.

Situated in a quiet neighborhood in central Zurich, the Widder Hotel is a one-of-a-kind property combining historic architecture with contemporary design and furniture by Le Corbusier, Miens van deer Roe, Charles and Ray Eames, Frank Lloyd Wright, Mario Bellini and other world-renowned designers. Originally owned by the Guild of Butchers in medieval times, the nine historic houses that make up the hotel today were purchased privately in 1970.

Preserving the character of each of the townhouses, Swiss architect Tilla Theus joined them together integrating seven floors and five basements, connecting various levels with nine elevators.

Guests of the Widder experience the owner's passion "for the exceptional" with antiques and original art and sculpture by Augusto Giacometti, Andy Warhol, Serge Poliakoff, Max Bill and Sophie Taeuber-Arp, among many others. A painting by Robert Rauschenberg decorates the stairway to the Penthouse Suite. For a small hotel, the Widder offers three restaurants under the direction of Executive Chef Dietmar Sawyere, a bar with live jazz, library and business center. The fitness room is being redesigned.

The "Town & Country" package includes accommodations at the Widder Hotel in a Superior Room, breakfast, a complimentary Zurich Card with a boat ride on Lake Zurich, an Armani shopping experience and a nightcap at the Bar in the Widder. At The Alpina Gstaad, accommodations are in a Junior Suite with views of the mountains and the glacier, daily breakfast and a seven-course Omakase tasting menu at MEGU.

Rates for the four-night package start at CHF 3,936 (or approximately US $4,420). Transfers from Zurich to Gstaad by Mercedes limo or helicopter can be arranged.
