The annual survey, which polls discerning readers worldwide, showcases the world’s top hotels, destinations and companies that define the very best in travel. Among the hotels category, the list of “Top Small City Hotels” recognizes the country’s finest establishments housing fewer than 100 rooms, with Planters Inn hitting this year’s list at number 1.

As the only member of Relais & Châteaux in South Carolina, the 64-room Planters Inn is housed in a meticulously restored 1844 building, combining old world hospitality with 21st century amenities. The Planters Inn will join all top winners of Travel + Leisure’s 2014 World’s Best Awards on Thursday, July 24, where each category will be honored at a special ceremony hosted by Nancy Novogrod, Editor-in-Chief, and Jay Meyer, VP/Publisher in New York City.
