Travel Trends: American Visitors to Portugal Jump by 15.2% in First 9 Months of 2015
According to the National Statistics Institute (INE), between January and September the U.S. was one of Portugal's fastest growing inbound markets.

New numbers also show that the boom in American visitors is spread around the whole country, with the Azores up by 27%, Lisbon by 17%, the Alentejo by 33%, and the North by 25%.
The U.S. remains one of Portugal's fastest growing markets – and spending by American guests, per capita, far outpaces other nations.

So, what caused this jump? Media reviews and articles on Portugal have spiked over the past year, with Portugal gracing many top destination lists. Jayme Simoes, a consultant to Turismo de Portugal puts it this way: “We have seen American visits to Portugal more than triple over a decade – so this tells us we have lots of happy visitors who are our ambassadors – telling friends about how great a destination Portugal is. We also offer real value – especially on the high end and in terms of luxury. Portugal is one of the safest destinations in the world, and it is authentic – offering unique experiences that you will find nowhere else. We hope this trend will continue."
