Tree House Lofts: A Unique Stay Amidst Nature in Singapore

Cleverly complementing the surrounding forest and tucked away in the canopy of native trees, the Tree Top Lofts epitomise exclusivity and privacy, serving as the perfect secret hideaway for guests wanting to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city which is just a 10-minute drive away.

These lofts have been carefully positioned amidst the lush greenery to immerse guests in a one-of-a-kind “back to nature” experience, but not without the bespoke five-star comforts that include luxurious amenities and personalised butler service.

Apart from close-up views of the flora and occasional glimpses of the fauna in the area, guests can also enjoy panoramic views of Mount Faber to the north and the forests of Sentosa to the south.

Commanding a total space of over 73 square metres, each one-bedroom loft comes complete with a large living room and an en suite bedroom adjoined to a walk-in wardrobe.

Natural wood-panel walls give the suite a rustic, tropical resort feel.

Large sliding glass doors in the Living Room and Bedroom open out to the patios, bringing guests even closer to nature. With over 90 square meters of timber terraces surrounding each loft, the suites make for the perfect place to host an intimate party for a select group of friends.

Eco-tecture

Standing at a height of seven and 12 metres respectively, the architecture of the Angsana and Tembusu lofts was conceived as a “log cabin in the sky”.

Cantilevered on four columns, each of a diameter of 1.3 metres, they resemble a giant tree on which the lofts are perched on.

Built at different levels to create a staggered roof profile, the lofts were carefully built to optimise the natural flow of the existing trees. The clean, wrapping horizontal lines of the building contrast with the speckled shadows and asymmetrical vertical forms of the surrounding trees.

It is this unique architecture of the Tree Top Lofts and the use of materials like timber that allow it to blend in with its immediate surroundings. The lofts are also fitted with a secondary timber shingle roof, which keeps the interior of the loft cool throughout the day.

Ecological considerations

The location of the Tree Top Lofts was chosen after extensive site studies and consideration of the existing ecology of the area. Steps were taken to mretain the natural greenery of the surrounds. Native trees were replanted upon completion of the lofts to complement the existing forest.

Shrubs were also added to the lower story and ground areas to enhance the forest ecosystem and prevent soil erosion. The designers were also mindful to conserve clusters of the majestic Alstonia Angustiloba (Pulai) and Dracaena Maingayi(Dragon Blood) trees found in the area during the building phase.
