Clydebuilt have announced Dark Island is at production ready stage and the exclusive, luxury suites are now available to purchase, the ship is scheduled to set sail early 2028.

Founded by executives with a wealth of experience gained in worldwide shipyards, offshore projects, design engineering, product development and business, Clydebuilt was formed to address the dereliction of opportunity on the Clyde; a prestigious river in Scotland flowing from the Lowther Hill to the Firth of Clyde.

The Dark Island has been designed in collaboration with the London based super yacht designer, Evan K. Marshall. “The goal with the ship was to create a spectacular cruise ship harking back to the elegance of cruise ships of a by gone era. Dark Island’s exterior design is sleek and elegant which is a departure from the current styling trend of most cruise ships” says Marshall. The interior features spectacular spaces such as her grand 10 storey atrium and luxurious, elegant guest suites.

The 228 metre (748ft) Dark Island residential cruise ship, aligns with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through policy and practice for sustainability and green initiatives, which will have minimum effect on the environment.

The Dark Island offers adventurous itineraries, visiting destinations around the world and experiencing numerous expeditions to unusual and exciting places. Starting off with a three year ‘Around the World’ tour followed by ‘Voyages of Discovery’ including the seafaring routes of the great explorers Christopher Columbus, Ferdinand Magellan, Francis Drake and James Cook. Lectures, forums, and discussions by leading academics will precede the expeditions and destinations.

There is an excellent choice of 236 ultra-luxurious suites. Each suite is liberating and uniquely personal, equipped with every provision for resident comfort, pleasure, and safety. Choose from 1, 2 or 3 bedroom suites all with a sea view balcony. Suite sizes range from 420.6 ft2 to 2,690 ft2 and are priced according to location on the cruise ship, the view and the floor area. The Dark Island has the capacity for 724 residents attended by 540 crew.

All decks are accessible by stairs and elevators with access for mobility at the forefront of design. The Dark Island residential cruise ship is ultra-luxurious, private and completely self-contained for family and friends. There is a code of confidentiality and privacy on the Dark Island.

Onboard amenities include restaurants, sunbathing areas, spa, golf driving, putting green, theatre, gym and fitness centre, pool, gift shops, gallery, bistro, grill, observation outlook, media centre, library, crafts, boutiques, retail, aerobics, hair salon, acupuncture and water exploration vehicles for sea trek and sea dive adventure.

Relax in the Highland Glen Spa and choose from a range of treatments or enjoy a pedicure and manicure in the salon. The state-of-the-art fitness and wellbeing centre features exercise equipment, training courses, treadmills and weights. There is also an outdoor jogging track and personal trainers offering programmes to suit your requirements.

The finest cuisine is served in three exclusive restaurants with a diverse selection of gourmet cuisine and delicious dining. The chefs draw inspiration from timeless, classic dishes and the regions travelled through; the vast array of dining choices are locally sourced and freshly prepared using seasonal produce cooked to perfection in the ship’s kitchen.
