Utah Becomes World-class Shopping Destination with Opening of City Creek Center
Now, world-class skiers, hikers and outdoor enthusiasts can revel in world-class indoor/outdoor shopping, just an hour from 11 Utah ski resorts.

City Creek Center will transform the downtown retail landscape with a mix of modern architecture and historic restoration. As the centerpiece of one of the largest sustainably designed mixed-use developments in the nation, the approximately 700,000-square-foot shopping center will be a unique indoor/outdoor space showcasing Utah's natural beauty and include several marquee stores that are new to the state of Utah including Tiffany & Co., Tumi, Swarovski, Papyrus, and Michael Kors. Boasting a total of 80 stores and restaurants and anchored by Macy's and Nordstrom, the shopping center uniquely brings the best of the outdoors inside (without the cold!) with a recreation of City Creek flowing through the property, water and fire fountains, a pedestrian skybridge over Main Street and a meticulously restored historic building façade meshed with modern architecture.

Travelers seeking Salt Lake City for a plethora of activities offered in the great outdoors will now have more options for activities indoors, with a fully retractable glass roof (the nation's first in a shopping center) that can be opened during the warmer months, providing sunlight and airflow and reducing the demand for air conditioning. The retractable roof also enables comfortable shopping during Utah's winter months, shelter from inclement weather and year-round customer comfort.

Guests can sail through winter shopping without slipping on ice or coating their shoes with salt thanks to a heated snow melt system located within the shopping center's main pedestrian concourse areas. The system sits beneath the walkways and melts ice and snow as soon as they touch the paver surface.

The skybridge over Main Street connects retail stores and creates a seamless flow between the city blocks. Etched glass panels that form the skybridge roof automatically lift open to provide cross ventilation. Floor-to-ceiling glass walls offer unobstructed vistas up and down Main Street, including nearby Ensign Peak, and feature etching inspired by the tree canopies along City Creek.

City Creek Center embraces the liveliness of urban density while providing open areas with dramatic vistas of the city and surrounding mountains. It also incorporates natural elements into the shopping experience. Meandering through the central walkways and plazas of the shopping center is a 1,200-foot-long realistic re-creation of the south fork of City Creek, which once coursed through downtown and was the original water source for early farmers. Two naturalistic boulder-filled 18-foot waterfalls cascade gently, while three unique fountains, from the designers of the Bellagio fountains in Las Vegas, will delight and entertain with musically choreographed animations using the elements of fire and water.

City Creek Center also features artwork inspired by Utah's mountains, canyons, foothills and Great Salt Lake. The center features animal tracks sandblasted into stone throughout the property and sculptures showcasing Utah's majestic wildlife, including bears, eagles, elk and seagulls.
