As Viking celebrates the 15-year anniversary of becoming the first cruise line to eliminate Non-Commissionable Fares (NCFs), it is taking a moment to reflect on what this industry-first move has meant for travel advisor partners—and what’s ahead.
On June 9, 2010, Viking announced that it would remove NCFs and make port charges commissionable, a groundbreaking shift in how cruise lines support the trade. Fifteen years later, Viking has remained steadfast in that commitment, continuing to lead the way by recognizing the value of the travel advisor community in building a sustainable, guest-first business.
Viking is recognizing the milestone anniversary with additional initiatives to mark the occasion, including a sweepstakes. During the month of June, for every booking made, Viking will offer $150 extra on the Viking Rewards Card. Travel advisors will need to visit the Travel Advisor Portal at viking.com/advisor, successfully register for Viking Rewards and complete the Travel Advisor Academy if they have not already done so.
Additionally, as part of Viking celebrating 15 years of No NCFs Travel Advisor Booking Sweepstakes, 15 river cruise prizes are being awarded. Travel advisors will need to book any Viking voyage from June 1 - June 30, 2025 and register each booking at viking.com/NoNCFs (link will go live in June) to be entered into a drawing for a chance to win one of 15, eight-day river sailings. Official rules apply.
