To commemorate the 125th anniversary of the Five Star Weekapaug Inn, the coastal Rhode Island Relais and Chateaux property is offering the opportunity for guests to take over the 33-room for the weekend, inclusive of all meals and resort activities. The Milestone Getaway experience is offered for two nights and priced at $125,000 for up to 66 guests.
A traditional new England lobster bake is a highlight of the culinary offerings, capped off with s’mores by the firepit. The inn’s shoreline setting overlooking Quonochontaug Pond and the Atlantic Ocean makes it ideal for nature-based discoveries, with an In-Residence Naturalist who will curate activities for the entire group. From jeep tours to the historic Watch Hill Lighthouse, to motorboat safaris, to birding and stargazing, inspired outdoor programming can be enjoyed throughout the weekend guests.
A Storied History
In 1899, Rhode Island-born entrepreneur Frederick Buffman and his wife Phebe opened a small inn in the Weekapaug beach community, which quickly became a popular destination for guests coming from New England and beyond. The inn expanded to accommodate up to 100 guests to 100 rooms before being damaged by the hurricane of 1938. The Buffums rebuilt the Rhode Island family resort in a nearby, more sheltered site where it stands today as a secluded enclave. The inn closed in 2007 and reopened in 2010 with new owners, Weekapaug resident Lang Wheeler and nearby Watch Hill resident Chuck Royce. Today, Weekapaug Inn maintains the traditions and values that made it a treasured destination in New England, welcoming guests from near and far for relaxing vacations, luxury weddings, and weekend getaways.
