If you’re looking to spend a week or two on a ski slope this winter, then you’ll have a number of excellent resorts to choose from. Among the more compelling options is Belle Plagne, a high-altitude ski resort that offers access to both the La Plagne and Paradiski ski domains.
So what is it that makes this part of France so appealing?
There’s something here to appeal to just about everyone. As such, it’s a perfect destination for groups of varied abilities. There’s plenty of soaring, beautiful scenery on every side, as well as plenty of après ski facilities, like spas, bars, and restaurants. Best of all, of course, are the pistes themselves: there’s skiable terrain for skiers of all abilities. Belle Plagne ski holidays, in other words, are great for parties of all shapes and sizes.
Once you’ve exhausted all of the nearby slopes, you might want to explore the wider Paradiski area, via which you can descend into neighbouring Les Arcs. In total, there’s around 425km of ground to cover – which is more than most skiers can reasonably complete in a single holiday. You might also be tempted by nighttime activities, like tobogganing or the snowpark. If you’re not yet skilled enough to brave these things yourself, then you might have enormous fun watching the pros make their descents!
One of the crowning virtues of this resort is the fact that it’s high-altitude. At just over two kilometres above sea level, it enjoys fantastic snow coverage throughout the season. This is especially so on the nearby Bellecote Glacier, which is home to the famous 3.5km ‘Combe’ run. The snow coverage isn’t just a practical advantage; it also makes the resort look stunning. You might find yourself gazing out across a beautiful mountain vista at the top of every chairlift.
Finally, we should mention that road vehicles are forbidden from entering the village. As a consequence, you’ll be able to enjoy a sense of remote, peaceful idyll for much of your stay. The village looks much nicer, which makes it great for photographs. But there’s another practical advantage of dispensing with roads: it makes the place much easier to ski through.
As such, you might find an abundance of chalets and other accommodations that can be skied in and out of. This can make your stay much more pleasant. After all, when you can move directly from your chalet to the slope, you’ll feel that much closer to the action. What’s more, you’ll avoid having to walk from one place to the other, carrying your skis as you go.
