Why Cambodia Has Become a Preferred Destination Among Travelers

When it comes to traveling to Asia, few are as expert as the cofounder of Sui Generis Entertainment & Travel, Carlos Alvarez. He knows the region well as he frequents it, but has also built a valuable network of hoteliers and concierges in most of the countries, especially in Cambodia, one of his favorite destinations.

Alvarez, along with his wife, Ana Laura, have set foot in 63 countries and have also been to each of the continents around the globe. The two seasoned travelers are the go-to experts when it comes to booking luxurious trips around the world, whether for family vacations, a trip for two, guys and girls trips, honeymoons, getaways, or even individual and transformational excursions.

“We spoil our customers with the full-concierge service and experience,” said Alvarez. “We put everything together, handle all the logistics and make sure they can go have fun and not have to worry about anything.”

The husband-wife combo regularly sends clients on trips of a lifetime to places like North and South America, Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and Asia, among others. Sui Generis Entertainment & Travel has manufactured numerous, extensive and luxurious trips for its hundreds of clients over the past 10 years.

Through extensive research, including recording notes of key places and dining experiences when abroad, Alvarez has become a thought-leader among travel agents and the wanderlust elite. One of his favorite regions is Asia and, among his extensive waitlist for travel packages for clients, plenty of them are itching to visit Cambodia.

Welcome to Cambodia

There is literally something for anyone when traveling to Cambodia.

For the adventurous travelers, there are activities-a-plenty, including hiking, birdwatching, camera trapping, foraging, boating expeditions, mountain biking, swimming, picnics, tailgating, fishing, kayaking, ziplining and even anti-poaching patrols one can join.

“Cambodia has an amazing place called ‘Phum Baitang’, as well as my favorite luxury resort in Siem Reap, where they restructured a traditional Cambodian town that has a nice touch of luxury and authenticity too,” said Alvarez. “However, there are so many great places to visit, I don’t think travelers can get it all into one trip.

Arriving at Phum Baitang, otherwise known as ‘The Green Village’, makes for a visceral experience, while engaging all of one’s senses in a satisfying, luxurious and adventurous experience that will be cherished forever.

Alvarez suggests staying at the Zannier Hotel Phum Baitang, as it gathers all of the ideal luxury travel destination goodies that one could imagine, all neatly wrapped up in a Cambodian village experience that has something for anyone of all ages. The tranquil province oasis has a village atmosphere and luxurious offerings, minus all the noise of the big city. The property features 45 private villas that resemble Cambodian houses and are stationed in a sea of lemon grass.

Two prominent restaurants in the area have earned worldwide attention, Bay Phsar, the ‘Rice Market’, and Hang Bay, or ‘Rice Shop’. Both serve non-traditional Khmer cuisine and local favorites.

Travelers can expect a full day of adventure when visiting the UNESCO Heritage Site, Angkor, the region’s famous temple, while guests can also revert back to the Zannier Hotel for a spa day after touring the temple too. Its temple spa sanctuary features a yoga pavilion, Tibetan and Swedish therapy, massages, and relaxation areas.

For the romantic excursion, anniversary, or honeymoon, Alvarez suggests a Bill Bensley-designed and branded hotel that features his patented collection of pool villas that make for a breathtaking sight.

Shinta Mani Wild is another preferred stop by Alvarez. The African-tented camp experience is roughly a three-hour drive from the capital. It fuses world-class designs with all-inclusive hospitality for guests. Conservation is the primary focus here so it is important to remember to leave just one’s footprints. This is one of the few places in the world where you can garner a luxurious resort experience, but with an emphasis on making a difference and helping protect endangered species.

Guests are required to stay at Shinta Mani Wild for a minimum of three days, but over that span, they will have a luxurious experience at the jungle retreat while also lending time to its conservation project too.

The time is now to visit Cambodia and travelers are lining up to take advantage of the luxurious and unbelievable experiences that Alvarez and the Sui Generis Entertainment & Travel team has to offer.
