Winter Wanderlust at Whiteface Lodge, Lake Placid

Guests can retreat to the snowy peaks of Whiteface Mountain (the only mountain on the East Coast tall enough to host two Winter Olympics) for an Alpine ski experience minus the crowds and long lift lines with the Lodge's Ski Free Midweek Package. Available Sunday through Thursday (use promo code SKIFRE at booking), the package includes three nights' accommodations in a suite and two days of complimentary skiing at Whiteface Mountain, boasting the largest vertical drop east of the Rocky Mountains, with 86 trails spanning 22 miles of exhilarating terrain. Package rates start at $420 per night based on a three night stay, and is available for stays January-April 2016. Package includes a maximum of two lift tickets per person per stay.

Host of the 1932 and 1980 Winter Games, the luxury resort challenges guests to tap into the town's Gold Medal spirit with its Winter Games Experience Package. Guests who book the package can test their winter sports skills on the same runs and tracks that have served as the training grounds for Lake Placid's own hometown Olympians, from super-G silver medalist Andrew Wilbrecht to three-time bobsled medalist Steve Holcomb to Erin Hamlin, the first American woman to win an Olympic luge medal. Whiteface Lodge's ADK Guides will be on hand as expert “coaches” to help guests go for the gold in events including ice-climbing, bobsledding, tubing, speed skating, and downhill skiing at nearby Whiteface Mountain. Short for Aide De Kamp, ADK Guides are adventure concierges versed in a variety of outdoor activities offered on and off property.
