Set in the historic hunt and wine country of central Virginia, Keswick Hall is a 600-acre boutique resort featuring 48 private guest rooms.
The northern wing of the luxury resort hotel contains historic Villa Crawford, once the Italianesque private estate of the Robert Crawford family built in 1912. In Feb. 2015, the resort received the Forbes Five-Star Award for its exceptional level of luxury and service. World Golf Hall of Fame architect Pete Dye was commissioned to create its new Full Cry layout which debuted at No. 47 in Golfweek’s “Best Resort Courses” list for 2016. The country estate is a property of Richmond, Va.-based Riverstone Group under its Historic Hotels of Albemarle division. The company also owns and manages The Sanctuary at Kiawah Island Resort (S.C.), The Sea Pines Resort (S.C.), The Jefferson Hotel (Va.) and The Hermitage Hotel (Tenn.). • The Blue Ridge Mountain range runs for approximately 577 miles and can be seen from the hotel. The top of the mountain range is a mere 20 mile drive from Charlottesville (20 minutes). The range got its' name from the conifers on the mountain which ooze a resin that reacts to the sunlight when it evaporates into the air creating a blue haze over the mountains. • The inn features a private helipad for quick and easy access for guests. Used occasionally for its intended purpose, it is more commonly used to launch hot air balloons for guests wanting a birds-eye-view of the gorgeous countryside. • The hotel produces its own private label wines Edith's Chardonnay and Edith's Petit Verdot, which pays tribute to Edith Fossett, Thomas Jefferson's chief cook at Monticello – one of the most responsible positions in Jefferson's household during his retirement.
• Room #9 is the Louis XV inspired room, featuring the original hardwood floors that date back to 1912 and French doors that open onto a private terrace - the room offers breathtaking views of the golf course and infinity pool below. This is one of the most frequently requested guest rooms and is the original master bedroom of the Crawford family who resided at Keswick from 1912 to 1919. • Located in the fifth largest wine producing state in the U.S., Keswick Hall at Monticello is a short drive to more than 25 vineyards where guests can enjoy tours and tastings. Guests dining in Fossett's can enjoy the extensive offering of both Virginia and international wines. • Continuing the grand tradition of local produce and "garden to table" eating as cultivated by Jefferson at Monticello, the hotel boasts its own "Chef's Garden" which boasts an extensive supply of produce year-round served in Fossett's restaurant. • Wendy is a frisky and determined Border Collie who has a very important job at Keswick Hall. She is the official goose and duck re-locater. True to her inherent nature to herd, Wendy ensures her feathered friends are gently moved off the fairways and into the ponds and roughs, so that golfers have the right of way. Guests can enjoy watching Wendy hard at work from the piazza of the hotel.
