Rooms & Suites: 161

Located 2 blocks from Via Veneto and 2 km/1 mile from the Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps, and Via Condotti shopping.

Celebrities and diplomats are regulars at this hotel, a Belle Époque masterpiece brimming with crystal, frescoes, soaring ceilings, sculpted columns, and precious antiques. Opened by César Ritz in 1894, the St. Regis was one of Rome's first deluxe hotels. It underwent a $35-million restoration in 1999, returning the Sala Ritz ballroom to its original glory, redoing every antique-filled room, and creating the Caroli Health Club & Spa. The lobby is appointed with white-marble reception and concierge desks, red-velvet throne chairs, Oriental rugs, and a 30-foot ceiling. Each of the 161 guestrooms is named for a different Roman site, depicted in a large fresco. Rooms have antique furniture and prints, Murano chandeliers, and Hermés toiletries. 24-hour butler service is available upon request. Sip cocktails in the Grand Bar, taste wine in the cellar, or take tea in the Grand Hall. The hotel's contemporary Vivendo dining room was voted Rome's best restaurant by Zagat in 2002 and 2003. Caroli Health Club & Spa. Personal shoppers are available upon request.
