The Henry Jones occupies the former factory of jam-maker Henry Jones IXL, beside Sullivan's Cove on the Hobart waterfront. Minimalism meets the classic lines of the 1825 warehouses, with exposed rafters and sandstone walls.
A 3-storey glass atrium at the rear of the building will house a gallery of works by Tasmanian artists, famous and emerging. The Henry Jones Art Hotel is the latest project of the developer Flora de Kantzow, whose conversion of the 1830's Launceston mansion Hatherley House into a designer hotel has won rave reviews.
