The Villa at Merida - Merida, Yucatan, Mexico

Rooms & Suites: 7

The Villa at Merida is a restored and exquisitely appointed seven-room, 19th-century nobleman's mansion, and is located five blocks from Barrio de Santiago, one of the most historic sites in the colonial sector of Merida.

Constructed around spaciously-arched terazas, tropical gardens, cooling fountains and majestic pool, this hacienda urbana has been meticulously restored, preserving much of the original Spanish colonial design.

Enveloping the grandeur of the past with the luxuriousness of modern comfort, our guest rooms transmit the ambience of a colonial mansion with original contemporary artwork and locally crafted furniture and décor, while providing the guest with attention to detail in the well-appointed amenities.

The principal objective of the owners and personnel of The Villa is an amiable and personalized service, which affords a feeling of being in your own home with your own personal staff in a relaxed atmosphere. It is the perfect locale to rent in its entirety for small group events, such as business meetings, photo and video shoots, workshops, social and recreational gatherings. Our personalized co-ordination takes care of the details so that you may enjoy your event.

Nestled in the heart of Mexico's Yucatan Peninsula, this urban oasis offers the discerning traveler a unique and memorable experience.

Apart from all the wonderful things you can do while visiting Merida, the two things that will stand out the most and make it an exceptional place to visit are safe travel and friendly people. Don't be surprised if most people greet you timidly and say "buenos dias" or "vaya bien". They don't want anything. They are merely greeting you politely and then going about their business. Please also remember that Yucatan culture is not conducive to doing things impersonally nor doing it quickly. Try to be patient and smile like a they do. Everyone is trying their best to accommodate you; that's always the highest intention.

Accommodations

There are four courtyard rooms and three garden rooms. All the courtyard rooms have a king bed, three of which can accommodate a rollaway bed should you be traveling with children. Two of the garden rooms have a king bed while the third garden room has 2 queen beds which can accommodate a rollaway bed. Two of the garden rooms are located on an upper teraza, and ideal if reserved for 2 couples or a family, because they host a king room and a double queen room, and because of their added privacy. Every room has been luxuriously appointed with handmade furniture and decor by local craftsmen, and uses only the highest quality, imported bathroom and bedding linens. The bathroom amenities are made by a locally-owned and operated company called Yucatan Herbal which uses naturally occurring local products such as honey and aloe to produce a totally natural, non-toxic line of bathroom products.
