7 Things to Pack for a Month-long Adventure Trip

7 Things to Pack for a Month-long Adventure Trip

Packing for a month-long trip is easier said than done. But when it comes time to pack your bags, you do not want to forget the following seven things.

1.    Toiletries

You will need to take toiletries with you, but make sure you stick to basics to take up less room in your luggage. Go for travel-sized soap, shampoo, and conditioner. If you get low, later on, you can always buy more. Remember to pack a razor, nail clippers, a toothbrush, toothpaste, and moisturizer too. And do not forget deodorant.

2.    Insect Repellent

If you are going somewhere exotic, make sure you have insect repellent with you. Unfortunately, biting insects can turn a trip sour, so do not overlook packing repellent. It is best to opt for ones that are naturally scented.

3.    An Emergency Food Supply

Emergency food has been specifically designed to last for years, so it will easily last for your month away. It can come in handy if you find yourself traveling for a long period without stop-offs. But having an emergency food supply for travel is best for trips that involve camping in the wilderness. Of course, in the remote chance that you should face an emergency situation, emergency food can also be incredibly useful then.

4.    Entertainment

If you are going away for a month, you are sure to be traveling around, which means spending time on transport. So, you will want to make sure you have some form of entertainment with you to pass the time. A few good books are a must. If you have a Kindle or other device, you can free up room in your luggage. You will also want a device to play music and maybe watch movies. Remember to take headphones with you too.

5.    A First Aid Kit

Getting an injury while you are away can be difficult to cope with, especially if you are somewhere where you do not speak the language. Finding the local pharmacist can take time. So, it is important you pack a basic first aid kit. If you are planning on going on long hikes or bike rides in the middle of nowhere, a first aid kit becomes even more of a necessity. Make sure your first aid kit contains band-aids, bandages, antibiotic cream, tweezers, medical alcohol, and disinfectant wipes. Learning Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) has become even easier -- pass the ACLS Certification Exam which covers airway management and other procedures needed in an emergency.

6.    A Phrasebook

If you are visiting a country where you do not speak the language, it is a very good idea to learn some basic words and phrases before you go. It is just as important to pack a phrasebook and dictionary for the language spoken in your destination. They can be very helpful in times of need. Besides, if you want to really engage with the country you are visiting, you will want to try to talk to the locals.

7.    Clothing

Ah, clothing. Selecting the right clothing for a whole month away is much more difficult than it sounds. Even by following the right advice, you are sure to spend some time picking out the right clothes for your trip. After all, only so many clothes will fit into your bag. You need to consider the climate of the place you are going to. For instance, if it is hot by day but cold by night, you will need to pack both T-shirts and a hoodie or jacket. Also, if you are traveling around an entire country, the climate could change from one place to another. It is best to pick tops and pants that can be paired with anything to give you more outfit choices. Make sure you have the right footwear too. If you are heading to beaches, you will want sandals. If you are heading to the woods, you will need a good pair of hiking boots.
