The Jet-Set Mindset: How to Travel Like the True Boss That You Are

As a successful business owner, you have the power and freedom to do and come and go as you please. This freedom also includes a life of travel. If you wake up one morning and decide to spend the week in Vegas, book your ticket! Or maybe you want to explore the sandy beaches in Jamaica… grab your sunglasses and sunscreen and head to the islands! The whole point of traveling like a boss isn’t necessarily how much money you have… it’s truly the mindset you have. Yes, having money is what’s going to afford you the luxury travel lifestyle you want but if you don’t have the jet-set mindset to accompany you during your travels, you’re not truly traveling like the boss that you truly are.

There are so many people in the world who long to live a luxurious lifestyle like that of a boss but instead, they work and wait to build up enough vacation time to go on the vacation they want. There’s nothing wrong with that life by any means but if you want to live a luxurious life, that sometimes means risking a steady income and putting yourself out there to become your own boss.

The journey to entrepreneurial success certainly isn’t an easy journey, to say the least, but if you’re interested in getting your start, the first thing you’re going to need to do is build a website that will impress your customers. The key thing here is that once you get your website built, you will then be on the pathway to being able to travel and work at the same time…

Most would call this living as a digital nomad but when you add the luxury experience to it, the nomadic part kind of disappears. This type of travel then turns into mixing a little business with leisure… aka, bleisure travel. Now, whether you’re taking a business trip or a vacation, you still need to enjoy the trip like the true boss that you are; you need to get comfortable with adopting the jet-set mindset. Here’s how you travel like a boss.

Dress Like You Mean Business

From the moment you arrive at the airport to head to your travel destination, your appearance needs to be top-notch. That doesn’t mean you need to wear a full-blown suit or gown the entire trip, by any means, but you do need to have outfits that’s fitting of the destination. Clothes that fit your size and are well-tailored with a mix of different fabrics and textures are a tell-tale sign that you are someone of importance (VIP status) and you command top of the line service and respect.

Tip Generously

When traveling like a boss, it’s pretty customary to be a good tipper. That’s not necessarily saying that you have to “make it rain” for the waiter that showed excellent service but to add class to your status, you’re going to want to tip these people that make your stay worth the money spent:

  • Valet
  • Housekeeping
  • Concierge

Those are just a few people that work to make your trip an enjoyable and comfortable experience. Again, you don’t have to spend your entire paycheck on tipping but when you show these people who work to serve you a little gratitude in tips, you won’t believe how far they will go to bend over backward for you.

Opt For a Vacation Rental For Group Travel

If you’re going on a group trip, sometimes the better and more affordable option is to look for a vacation rental instead of a hotel. With vacation rentals, they’re more accommodating to larger groups, plus, it keeps everyone together. Not only that but if you wanted to have a get-together, you can only imagine the noise that people would complain about in a hotel (with their quiet hours)... with a vacation rental, you can bring the party back to your spot without worrying about getting complained on; after all, you should be able to have fun even if it is a business trip… that’s the whole point of bleisure!

Stay in Luxury Hotels If You’re By Yourself

If you’re traveling by yourself, then staying in a hotel would definitely be the better option… you’ll have more of a focused level of service, and nothing’s better than being catered to. Maybe you want extra towels or are hungry but don’t feel like going to get fast-food… you can order room service for yourself and didn’t have to move a muscle.

Use Your Charm

Charm is something that has helped so many people get out of sticky situations but it’s also something that has allowed people to get whatever they wanted. It also brings a sense of power. You might want something to get done in a timely fashion… well, you might get told that it can’t be done in the timeframe you wanted. So what do you do when that happens? You smile and convince them otherwise. Next thing you know, you’ll be hearing “let me see what I can do for you.”

According to Fast Company, charm can get you anywhere in life, especially in business. It opens doors that were initially shut. Charm is something you either have or you don’t but when it comes to trying to get an upgraded room or flight, having this natural superpower is definitely going to play in your favor.

Money is Not a Concern…

During your travels as a successful entrepreneur, money should be of any concern and you need to conduct yourself in that manner as well. That doesn’t necessarily mean to go out and throw away your money but if it’s not a concern, then showing your appreciation to those who made your trip unforgettable, shouldn’t be an issue.

So for your next trip, how do you plan on conducting yourself? Are you going to adopt the jet-set mindset and travel like the true boss that you are or are you going to act as though you didn’t work hard to earn the title of boss?
